Thing 23

I have learned a lot about Creative Commons by taking this class and I realize that copying writing is wrong. But now there is  a new way to use other peoples brilliant ideas and it is called "Fair Use".
I understand and I have found that at nearly every thing I used had the cc at the bottom of the page.

If I had to explain Creative Commons to my special education student, I would use the powerpoint that we made in class to show them all about it. I am so proud of my mastery of the Great Twenty 23 things.

Thing 22

I created three educational binders. One was private for my own creative thinking it was entitled "educational". The second one was called " Fun Brain" because it was linked with a bunch of online educational games from the website. The third one was called "count" and it included videos that Count, from sesame street were in.

Thing 21

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

(I created my Animoto video using clips and photos of me and my boyfriend.)
Antimoto is so amazing! By far my favorite "thing" on the list.  Antimoto was easy and user friendly. When I uploaded my pictures to this site it went very fast and sent me an email quick as lightening. I am huge fan of this site.  Not only can I use this for my personal life but I can also see myself using this website for educational purposes. I could take photos of students doing projects and make videos of them doing experiments. I could them incorporate a music and show the class how hard they worked on that project. It will also give them encouragement and joy.

Thing 20

YouTube

There are so many videos on YouTube. I do not have a YouTube account but I may get one when I become a teacher because some schools will not allow YouTube videos.  There are lots of educational videos on YouTube that I thought were very helpful. You can find a video just about on any subject.

I posted this video because I really can see myself showing my students this video before I assign a book report.

Thing 19

Social Networking

Teachers need to be social too! I think that  social networks are ways to stay in touch with family and friends. It is also a great place to have discussions and communicate with other teachers to build a little learning community. Having socail networks as a teacher can be a wonderful thing because it can get parents more involved. It can also be encouraging because you can talk about how good your students are. When they see their names and their photos with positive comments about them, they will be happy and excited. Social Networking could be useful for helpful student and teacher conversations.
I am a member of Facebook, Twitter, Project Playlist and TeacherPop. I found TeacherPop very interesting and a great place to post blogs about new ideas that I am using in my future classroom or just have converations with other teachers.

Thing 18

My Facebook Page

I have had a Facebook for a few years now and I recently added Joe Jerles and the Austin Peay Gov. to my friendslist. I think that a social network such as Facebook could be a useful site for teachers because there are places to create group pages. Creating a group page on facebook could be helpful for students because they could ask the teacher questions and the teacher could answer them. Teachers could also post problems or extra credit on these pages  and parents could even be informed.

All in all there could be many useful ways that Facebook would reach students in a cool, fun, educational way. In a way Facebook could even encourage students to do there homework.

Thing 17

Delicious !
I think that social bookmarking is a great idea. I can see how the websites you discover and use could build up overtime. Using Delicious or any other socil bookmarking that uses tags and commenting is so wonderful. Staying organized and being able to see all the different websites to visit will be such a good thing for a teacher. I am so happy to have been introduced to sites like Delicious!

I choose to use iGoogle because I already have a Gmail account. I really like my Gmail account there are so many things I can use that are helpful for me daily. I choose this splattered paint them because it was cute and fun.I already use this page everyday. It so easy to manage and I absolutely love how much information it will tell holds. I am greatful to know that there is a place I can keep organized online. I really like the calender because it is like a planner or an organizer so I can remember whats going on or what special event is coming up. Also I make to do lists like crazy so I found them fun and i also find them as little reminders. All in All I found all of these tools useful to my future classrooms because it is helping me become more organized. And everyone appreciates an organized teacher.

Thing 15

The Wiki Experience
The Wiki Experience was definitely something. I could see how it could be helpful for teachers because they could all share there information on one Wiki page. This would be good to share ideas and post new things. I found it very interesting that Wiki pages are very easy to use. I also discovered that it is something you can have fun with. Wikis are not my favorite thing. But I could see how they could be useful in a classroom setting for research or other opinions.

Wiki = "What I Know Is"
Wiki is a great place to share ideas, gather information and build off of other peoples ideas.

Google Docs

Google Docs was not as unserfriendly as Zoho but I am sure with practice I could get use to it. I posted a link below where I created an Excel document in Google Docs. If you click the link it will show you what I did but I could not get it to transfer to my blog.

https://spreadsheets1.google.com/spreadsheet/ar?&hl=en_US&id=tGWMad6UTGF5PlNu1W04HeA.09596097500437142681.6040131463800574204&action=1&tile=0&rpert=20&srow=0&erow=22&scol=0&ecol=14&fprt=false&tfe=yn_542&gsessionid=ve4fQCNSZWY

Zoho
So when I first signed up for Zoho I didn't know exactly what it was and I was not excited about using it either. But the more I read about what all it could do the more I wanted to use it. I am so happy that I can now write papers here on the internet. The thing I like most is you can save your work here and then come back to it later. It can be accessed through any computer if you have an internet source. Therefore, instead of paying for a jump drive or memory stick around you can simly go straight to Zoho and accsess it there. I will definetley using Zoho from here on out. There are more tools in Zoho that I saw and I will probably use those to my advantage as well. The word document here has all the same features and things as Microsoft Office does so you can work for free without having to buy all that software for your computer. All you need is a Zoho account and an internet source.

Thing 12

Google is my Hero.

Google has helped me in so many ways throughout my life. I can't even remember life without google. I use Google for help on homework, research, entertainment and so much more. My favorite thing about google is that you can have a gmail account where you can have your very own iGoogle where you can get news feeds, use the search engine, check your mail and much more. Another thing that I really like alot about Google is that you can use Google Alerts sent straight to your email and phone to get the latest news at anytime. Google has changed the lives of many including mine.

Thing 11

Google Blog Search

So when I was looking through Google Blog Search I found  that its alot like what it sounds. I felt like it was a place where you could search any topic and find a blog about it. When I looked up and found school liberary learning 2.0 I thought it was really cool because it was exactly what I wanted and fast access to it. I will probably use this cool Google tool when I need tips or searching for information and want to look up something through the eyes of a blogger.

Thing 10

RSS News Readers are great for getting the latest news from your favorite blog pages and news feeds. I am using RSS because it is a new form of technology and it may be helpful for when I start teaching in the near future. I think it coul be useful for me as a teacher to subscribe to other teachers world wide to share teaching tips and ideas with each other. I really like my google account because it lets me do so many new things. I like the news reader because it lets you have access to multiple pages at once and it updates as soon as someone posts something so you will always be getting new things sent directly to you. Its nice to have all of your favorite news and blogs sent your way instantly after you have subscribed.

I think that these online image generators are great for the class only with certain things. I could see myself using something like this is a powerpoint to put emphasis on a certain word or phrase that I want my students to remember. I like these really cool ideas that where found online because they were easy to use you just simply follow the instructions on how to post them.

Thing 8

Flickr Mashups

Flickr Mashups are very interesting to experiment with. I like the "Spell with Flickr" the best because it is fun and you can use post these letters anywhere you would like them and they are easy to use. It is even fun to use in the classroom. You could get the students to spell out there spelling words and  post them in a blog useing this cool flickr mashup. Sharing photos online is not my favorite thing to do but I can see how it has become into a really cool thing useing these mashups.
Below I had some fun creating my name with the letter generator.

sharing photos online and how to use mashups in class and in my personal life

Photographers are at a great advantage with this internet site. Picnik is a place where you can let your creative side flow freely. It is a free site where you can upload pictures and edit them into works of art. When you see your photos edited with color or pop or even in black and white you see the photo and it takes you back to the moment you first captured it so you can relive the moment again and again. There are so many different ways to edit your photos and so many styles and settings. You can always rely on Picnik for super groovy editing skills.

Thing 5

What is Web 2.0 ???

Web 2.0 is when non-technical people use the Web to enhance their lives and businesses. The fact that so many people are now creating and building on the Web is what the '2.0' signifies.

The term Web 2.0 is associated with web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, and collaboration on the World Wide Web.

A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media as creators are limited to the passive viewing of content.Examples of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services, web applications, and mashups.

As a future educator I really relate to using Web 2.0 daily.

Thing 4

Commenting on people's blog not only helps give the blogger encouragement but it also gives them feedback in which they can use to improve. Reading other people's posts and being a part of this sense of community and interaction can be helpful in communication skills also.

*How to comment like a King(or Queen)! was a really helpful post because it had great tips points on how to be a make the blogger feel appreciated and heard.

*10 Techniques to get more comments on your blog! This page had some really interesting facts. It really was interesting to read. It helped me become a better blogger.

I will edit this post later on when I reveal whose page I commented on.

Thing 3

Registering for my blog was super easy. It was very important because I wouldn't receive credit without doing so.

Blogging can be used in so many different ways in a classroom. It can be a place to post your reflections on your teaching experiences or a place to share your great ideas with other teachers. It could even be a great place to reflect on the great ideas that have successfully worked or write about things that you might need to work on. This is a great site where teachers can express themselves in any way they wish.

Thing 2

Setting up my blog with Blogger was a great thing. It is a user friendly site and I enjoy posting things to it. My most recent post was my avatar. I enjoy seeing my avatar appear every time I view my blog. I tried to make my avatar look as much like me as possible. Blond hair and hazel eyes. I thought the green shirt would make my eyes pop. :) I had fun creating my mini me and its nice to have a doppelme account so that I am free to post my avatar in more than one spot.

Thing 1

After hearing and about Life Long Learning "habit 1: begin with end in mind" is the easiest one for me. I have a passion for teaching special education in the near future. Whenever I feel like giving up I take a moment to visualize myself standing in front of my classroom teaching students and then after I get the big picture of why I am doing this, I get right back to work and I don’t give up.

“Habit 3 Viewing problems as challenges” is probably the most difficult habit for me to accept. When something goes wrong I try to fix it but I still worry about it a lot more than I should. If I look at these problems as a great learning opportunity than I would be a lot less stressed about them. Thanks to Life Long Learning I believe that there are learning opportunities that happen every minute. I am glad that I can finally see myself as a Life Long Learner because I believe that it is never too soon or too late for learning.
